The goalkeeper was taken off life support on July 5 after spending several days in a coma.

The footballer assured people of his wellbeing in a message released on social media five days later.

I want to thank each and every person who has shown me and sent me their affection in these difficult days.

“I am still working on my recovery which each day is getting better.

“I feel very fortunate, once more, thank you to everyone and I hope to be able to see you soon.” He wrote on Instagram.

The goalkeeper spent two seasons on loan with Paris Saint-Germain before joining them permanently in 2020. He previously won the Europa League twice with his hometown team Sevilla.
